How to Fix Laptop Not Making Sound

A laptop whose speakers don’t make sound will certainly be an annoying specter. We can no longer listen to music, watch videos, and do some productive work, such as editing videos to recording sound.

For those of you whose lives are very dependent on laptops, whether it’s office workers, content creators, or students, this problem will certainly be very inconvenient.

But do not rush to panic. Try doing some of the things below if your laptop speaker is having problems.

1. Check the Speaker Settings the Laptop is Using
PCs or computers are usually not equipped with internal speakers, so we have to use additional speakers to hear the sound from the PC.

In contrast to laptops that are already equipped with internal speakers, we can directly use them to listen to music and all sounds from the media being played.

But we can also connect external speakers via Bluetooth or cable.

You can do this if you have external speakers with more qualified quality so that they can produce a clearer sound.

And here it is that might be the problem why your laptop doesn’t make a sound.

Your internal speaker doesn’t make a sound because maybe your laptop is still connected to external speakers, either via cable or Bluetooth.

Try to check again whether your laptop is still connected to external speakers or not.

If it still is, then it’s only natural that the laptop’s internal speakers don’t make a sound.

First, disconnect your laptop with external speakers, then try playing music again and see if the internal speakers make sound or not.

2. Reinstall Audio Driver
Every hardware device in the laptop is controlled by the drivers in the laptop to function, including the speakers.
The driver is a bridge between the hardware and the computer program that plays the sound so that later the sound can come out on the speakers.

If you are using a Windows operating system, then installing drivers is a must if all your laptop hardware is to function.

Especially if you buy a laptop in an “empty” condition, which means that Windows has not been installed.

After installing Windows, the next step is to install all the required drivers.

It’s a different story if you buy a laptop that has Windows installed, then usually all the drivers are also installed by default. The laptop is ready to use.

You can search on Google using the keywords “install drivers + your brand and type of laptop”.

Then usually Google will display the official page of the laptop brand you are using.

Keep in mind that each type of laptop has its driver, so the driver should not use drivers belonging to other types of laptops.

3. Check whether the speaker is muted or not
For those of you who are not familiar with using a laptop, you may not understand all the buttons on the keyboard.

There are several buttons on the keyboard that function to control the sound of the laptop, starting from lowering and increasing the sound level, to muting the laptop sound as a whole.

These keys are usually the F10, F11, and F12 keys. Each brand and type of laptop may be different.

If you accidentally press the mute button on the keyboard, the laptop speakers will be muted until you press the mute button again.

Therefore, try to check on your laptop keyboard, then press the mute button and see what happens, whether your laptop sounds back on or not.

4. Reinstall the Laptop
The Windows operating system on your laptop is composed of many complex file systems. If any of these files are damaged, deleted, or modified incorrectly, then there is a possibility that your laptop has an error.

If you never replace or delete system files in Windows, there’s a good chance it was done by a virus or malware.

Viruses or malware can come from anywhere. It could be that when you copy your computer from your friend’s laptop, there are viruses and malware that infect the flash you are using.

Then when you use the flash on your laptop, they will immediately infect your laptop.

Another way viruses and malware infect your computer is through the internet. Usually, they come along with the files you download from the internet.

If you have ever downloaded a pirated application from the internet, the application has likely been filled with malware.

If this is the reason why your laptop is not making sound, then the best way you can do is to reinstall the operating system on your laptop.

In addition to solving speaker problems, reinstalling will also remove all viruses and malware on your laptop.

5. Bring the Laptop to the Service Center
In addition to software damage (viruses, malware, drivers, and the like), there could be hardware damage that causes your Androbuntu friend’s laptop speakers to not work.

Many possibilities could happen. It could be that one of the connecting wires on the internal speaker is disconnected so that the speaker cannot produce sound.

To find out what happened and what kind of treatment is appropriate, it’s a good idea to take your laptop to the Service Center.
